Greetings from Julie

Hi, my name is Julie, and I’m excited to be joining the Wikispaces team as the newest member of the software engineering group. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in linguistics, and it took me a few years to realize what I really wanted to do was write code. Outside of programming, I spend my time reading, knitting, and eating my way through the restaurants of San Francisco. I’m looking forward to doing what I can to make your site experience even better.

    Hi Julie,
I am a Teacher Librarian and am currently working on an on line course to obtain my senior qualification for teaching Health and Physical Education. I am doing a group project and have convinced my group to use wikispaces to create our product.
I am trying to copy and paste a page for one of the girls who was having difficulty with the site and now I am stumped too.
I am wondering if you can help. I have spent hours on wikispaces this past semester and have learned many tricks but this one escapes me. I am trying to copy and paste this document and it will only copy the black writing and not the blue. What am I doing wrong. I even tried to change the font colour but that didn’t work either. When I paste in Edit mode the blue text appears but when I hit save it disappears. I am perplexed. Can you help?

Our project is due in a few days, I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can offer us or at least send me in the right direction to find the answer to my question.

I have just figured out that I can change the file type to PDF and copy and paste and it works. The formatting is changed but it at least copies all the work.
Still if you have any advice on why a Word document would not paste correctly I would be interested to find out.
    Thank you,

Hi Julie, and welcome to WIKISPACES ! writing code seems far afield fo Berkely! Yet there is a parallel with Linguistics and Code!

I am a big fan of wikispaces and enjoy using them quite a bit. I finally got my not for profit board here, Chicago Public Radio to join in, push shove and send teasers!

    — I also have a daughter in SF, she is an architect with gensler and her name is Julie also! She is focused on the architecture and healthy living such a beautiful clim can offer! She fosters kitties too, and is always looking for someone who needs help unwinding those knitting skeens!

Julie; Love San Francisco! I have two brothers who live there and I visit when I can. You’re right…the restaurants are amazing.
So, Mary and I are working our way through the Wikispace we’ve set up for a lesson plan about the rainforest for grades 1-3. The visuals have to be good, so we’re setting up a glogster page for each day of the rainforest journey. I love the graphics part of this technology (I’m an art teacher, grades K-2), and Mary, the classroom teacher, inserts the content part so that it fits what she could do with her class.

We are having fun exploring this technology as Digital immigrants, and will continue until right into our school year this August.

Hi Julie, it’s so nice to come to a site and find somebody who actually welcomes you. I created a wiki space last year but I never used it, but now I feel the urge to use it. I’m a language teacher and I would like to stock all what I learned during my years of teaching and workshops. I would welcome any advice. I was hesitating whether to use a blog or a wiki and I finilly opted for a wiki for its orgonizing structure.

    Welcome Julie,

I have been using Wikispaces for the past two years and I love it. I teach 3 grade levels, computer classes, and I have much of my course online. My students love it and I am hoping to convince my tech dept. to let all of the high school faculty use it as their website.

I do have problems with the formatting sometimes so I might be asking yo for help.

    Thanks Julie,
I’m new to Wiki. Can you refer me to a basic explanation of what they do and how to use them? How they differ from a website? I gather our group (sustainability and social work) can use it to post syllabi, bibliographies, articles, discussions on issues, etc.
