If you are new to wikis and are looking to do more with yours, we encourage you to attend. For more information and to register for the event, visit: http://wikispacesintro0907-4.eventbrite.com. We look forward to seeing you there.

Lunchtime introduction – still trying to find my way:
where am I, how do i join a discussion, is this it, where do i find a structure, how do I let others know to join me?

  3. on 08 Jul 2009 at 4:41 amTerenceFreedman

It seems that I have arrived and am able to leave comments.

Next I need some sort of search engine to locate wikis by keyword and maybe a thesaurus to cross reference them.
One such keyword might be author name.

    Hi OKat,

We will have a recording up shortly after the webinar so you can view that anytime you’d like. You will find the recording in the above blog post after the webinar.

    Cheers,
    Debbie

    Hi TerenceFreedman,

The comments you left are on the Wikispaces blog rather than on a specific wiki. If you send us an e-mail at help@wikispaces.com with a bit more information about what wikis you are looking for, the wiki you want to get the word out about, etc., we can help get you setup.

    Cheers,
    Debbie

Hi, I’d love to register but 11:00am PST is 4:00am in NSW Ausralia! (Don’t know if I can manage it – especially as tomorrow is last day for us schoolies here before winter holidays (vacation). Will register just in case but recorded option sounds good. Will this be easy to find? (Born in 60’s – needs to be EASY!)

What is the maximum file size for an image posted in the wikispace? I am a muralist, and some of my image files are rather large. (35 MB for example) I could divide the image up into separate files but am trying to avoid doing that.

    Hi,
I have only just received an invitation today and obviously missed the introduction to wikispaces webinar that was held yesterday. Will you be running anything like this again in near future?
    Thanks

My colleague Eirin and I are really looking forward to getting started.

If anyone has any great tips for science based wikis, we’d love to hear from you.

Are there any concordancing wikis to assist in viewing collocations?

    Cheers, annette

    Hi Barbara,

It depends on the plan your wiki is on. For example our free ad-supported Basic plan has a maximum file size of 10MB. Your images would be able to fit in our Super or Private Label plans which all support files larger than 20MB. You can find a full list of our plans and the cost of each on our pricing page here: http://www.wikispaces.com/site/pricing

    Cheers,
    Debbie

How do i start a blog on wiki spaces?

  16. on 20 Jul 2009 at 12:43 pmTorresRosaly

I will like to use this to start a family tress and have others contribute to it. Is this possible? How can I do it? where do I go to open a page and start including information I already have?

  17. on 20 Jul 2009 at 1:40 pmDebbie

    Hi Mary,

You might see a ‘remove’ or ‘delete’ link next to your username on the Manage Wiki – Members page. Only you and wiki organizers can see this link. It is there in case you want to leave the wiki or if someone needs to close the wiki temporarily.

    Cheers,
    Debbie

    Hi Fisherman_Matthew_R_Gill,

Wikispaces is a wiki service. To start a wiki on Wikispaces please go to http://www.wikispaces.com and create an account. Once you create an account you can create a wiki and add information from your blog onto it. Also each wiki page you create has a discussion area so you can ask for comments on your page information just like you would on a blog entry.

    Cheers,
    Debbie

  19. on 20 Jul 2009 at 1:42 pmDebbie

    Hi TorresRosaly,

Sure, that’s possible. You can also set the wiki so that only you and your family can view it. For a bit more information please send us an e-mail at help@wikispaces.com We can let you know how to set your wiki to Private and get it setup. To start you will need to go to http://www.wikispaces.com and create an account and a wiki.

    Cheers,
    Debbie

how do i edit my wiki page? like i want to write some things on my page but i can’t figure out how to quite to that.

  25. on 27 Aug 2009 at 2:30 pmDebbie

    Hi Rachel,

To edit your wiki page you first need to go to http://www.wikispaces.com and sign in. If you created the wiki page yourself you just need to go to it and select the Edit tab or button on the page. If someone else created the page for you you might need to join the wiki the page is on first.

    Cheers,
    Debbie
