wikispaces

People around the world use and love Wikispaces, and we are making it even easier for non-English speakers to take advantage of Wikispaces. We are translating the Wikispaces interface into a variety of languages, and we have just released our first set of translations.

We are excited to let you all know that, with the help of Claude Almansi, much of Wikispaces is now available in French. Use it with your French colleagues or in your French class. And let us know what you think as we continue to translate more of Wikispaces into French and other languages.

To begin working with Wikispaces in French, log in and go to “My Account” to set the languages preferences for your account. If your browser is configured with French as the default language, you won’t need to make any changes. You will automatically see Wikispaces in French the next time you visit.

If you are interested in translating Wikispaces into another language, send us an e-mail at help@wikispaces.com and we’ll help get you set up.

As a language teacher, I was thrilled to hear this news! I’m hopeful that Spanish will be high on your list of additional languages to add! THANKS for all of the good work that you do and for the many creative ways you continue to find to expand your service for us.

    @ Bo Baake and sfer

The important thing is that someone begins a translation, then other people will be more likely to join.

I took part in the French translation: it is really easy, with separate items consisting of a single word or a very short sentence: you translate a few when you have a spare moment. And now, there are explanations as to the context of several items where it was needed.

It would really be great to have Wikispaces in many languages. The great thing is that we can translate it collaboratively.

@ Sarah What about contacting people who made positive contributions to the translations of the help menu?

    Best

    Claude

This news is fantastique ! We have partner schools in France, and are using wikispaces as a means of communication, to share ideas and showcase student work.

    Merci beaucoup!

It would be great if you could use both English and French within one wiki. Is this possible? The ideal would be to have a French wiki that would allow you to communicate more complex ideas in English for beginners (primarily middle schoolers).

Thanks again moving in this direction. Multi-Language capabilities is another gold star for Wikispaces.
