Wikispaces is Hiring!
December 5th, 2007 by Sarah
Wikispaces is currently hiring software engineers. We are looking for intelligent and passionate engineers who are fluent in PHP, python, Java, or Ruby, and can pick up a new language quickly. There’s a lot to do around here: designing and building new parts of the application, working on our front-end javascript and AJAX, squeezing a few more requests/second out of our web heads, and working on our replicated databases and file storage.
We are a fast-growing, profitable company located in San Francisco which cares about continually bringing new value to our community. If you are interested, read the full job description, and get in touch with us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Yay!! More new features!!
Hi all,
I’m not yet ready to work for you guys. I thoroughly enjoy programming and scripting, but I know that my training is not quite as official or as complete as it needs to be. What I would like to know is this: where can I volunteer my services to work on projects so as to be able to sharpen my skills enough? I know that you gotta give before you can get; can you point me to where I can do some giving? Some place that won’t mind my lack of formal training and will appreciate my ability to learn as I do?
Thanks, and I eagerly await your reply
Paul LaRue
Paul,
A great way to get experience is to work on some Open Source projects. SourceForge.net has thousands of projects so go find one you’re interested in and get involved.
Kool! Hope We Have More Features

Anyway, definitely interested in helping Wiki out. I know over 50 different programming languages with PHP being the latest that I started working with. Had a fluent understanding of it in a week. =)
Presently, I am a Self Employed Network Administrator / PC Technician. I also build complex web based applications using an Object Oriented Database Management System (ODBMS) and a DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, OSQL, and more. Also fluent in VB (ASP, VBS), C & C#.
The new thing for me is how the language interfaces into the OS and Data Stores.
Hope to read from you soon.
Heard of you guys from my wife, who heard of this site from her classmates. The concept is simple and practical, and I would love to be a part of it. I’ll probably hit you guys up ASAP and hope for the best!

gabriel,
We do not hire 13 year-olds, however there are other ways to get involved. As you may have seen on our discussions page at http://www.wikispaces.com/message/list/home , we have a very vibrant community providing assistance to other users who need technical support.
We also have spaces like http://educationalwikis.wikispaces.com where you could become involved and help inform teachers and classrooms about the possibilities that wikis offer.
If you want to grow technically and be involved in the Wikispaces community, I’m sure there’s a way we can work something out.
All the best,
Sarah
