Wikispaces Turns Two!

Birthday CandlesA little over two years ago, we welcomed our first members to Wikispaces and started down the path of providing wikis to the world. We set out from the beginning to build a less-geeky wiki, and we’re thrilled to see how many of our wikis are used by teachers and students (over 25,000 in K-12 alone!), clubs, churches, sports teams, collectors — right alongside Open Source software projects, online gamers, electronics fans, and more.

It’s been a great ride. We’re now home to hundreds of thousands of members and spaces across a dizzying array of topics, age groups, and languages.

Not a day goes by that we aren’t surprised and excited by the great things going on in the Wikispaces community. Whether it’s an elementary school building their own website, collectors tracking thousands of varieties of silver dollars, a member recording a video of how they’re using wikis, or a project to keep track of toy instructions, we’re inspired by our members. We’re also excited to see non-profits, universities, and corporations - from small to very big - using our Private Label service as their wiki platform.

We’re grateful for everyone who helps spread the word, lends a hand in our forums, or drops us an encouraging email. Without you, our community, Wikispaces simply would not exist.

Thanks — and here’s to an even bigger, better year three!

    Happy Birthday, Wikispaces!

And thanks for everything you guys have done. I am a K-12 teacher, and I have a few spaces for my kids. I am increasingly impressed with the features, the ease of use, and the tech support (posted or email).

Keep it up, and thanks for supporting education in this way!
